Andy Coffman is entering his eight season as assistant coach of the UC Irvine women's water polo team.
Coffman has been a part of the Anteater's major accomplishments during his tenure as the assistant coach. Most noteworthy was the 2009 Big West Tournament title as well as being Tri-Big West regular season champions in the inaugural season of the Big West Conference as UCI went 23-9 for the best record in program history. Other significant accomplishments include a seventh place finish at the 2007 MPSF Championship tournament and helped the team to their best finish in school history to date in 2006 as the team finished sixth in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation finishing the season with a 18-15 record overall.
Besides coaching at UC Irvine Coffman has been the assistant for the Corona del Mar boy's water polo team and started Coast Water Polo Club and head coached the team which was an immediate powerhouse in the Southern Pacific Zone of USA Water Polo. He is currently the head coach for SoCal Water Polo club's 16 and under boy's team.
Coffman graduated from UCI in 2001 with a degree in social sciences. He played water polo at UCI under legendary coach Ted Newland and was also a member of the Anteater's swim team for two years. Before attending UCI he was an All-American in water polo and swimming at Clovis High School. Coffman trained with the USA National team during his playing career at UCI and played one season in the Australian National League.
